Things To Pack For Tobago

You’re going to have an amazing time in Tobago! The weather will be warm in July and the island is filled with beautiful sceneries. No doubt you will love it the way we do. This is the reason why we’re working to create an experience for our guests that will give you a taste of the island beyond our wedding day. So, it's important for you to pack appropriately for the trip, the main event, and all the other activities you may want to participate in.

Dwayne and I put together the suggested packing list below for a long wedding weekend in Tobago:

1.     Clothing: For the wedding, we are looking forward to seeing you in your take of Afro-Caribbean Chic (as described in our previous post). For other activities, take lightweight, breathable clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses for daytime activities, and a lightweight jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. On Friday night, our Pre-Wedding Bashment will be a party vibe, so feel free to dress up a little more for that.

NOTE: Non-military personnel are not allowed to wear any article of clothing with camouflage print in Trinidad and Tobago.

2.     Swimwear: Tobago is known for its beautiful beaches, so be sure to pack your swimwear (especially for the Sunday Beach Lime and any pool time). You may also want to pack a cover-up or sarong for walking to and from the beach.

3.     Accessories:

·      A sun hat or cap for the daytime events.

·      Sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun.

·      Costume jewelry or statement pieces to add flair to your outfits.

·      A clutch or small purse for the wedding ceremony and reception.

·      A small backpack, tote, crossbody or beach bag to carry essentials such as sunscreen and insect repellent on outings.

4.     Sunscreen: Summer sun in the Caribbean can be brutal. It’s part of its charm. So, it's important to pack sunscreen to protect all skin types.

5.     Insect Repellent: Mosquitoes love the Caribbean especially with afternoon summer showers and lush vegetation. Tobago is no different, particularly at dusk and dawn, so be sure to pack some insect repellent.

6.     Shoes: Of course, you’ll need your fancy shoes for your wedding outfit, but you may also need other essentials. Tobago is a great place for hiking and exploring the outdoors, so pack comfortable walking shoes or sneakers. Also, don’t forget your sandals for the beach!

7.     Camera: Tobago is a beautiful island, and you'll want to capture the memories of your time there. If you’re serious about photography, you may want to pack your camera, but your smartphone will do the job too.

8.     Chargers and Adapters: Make sure to pack chargers and adapters for your electronics. Tobago uses a 110-volt power supply, so check if you need an adapter for your specific devices.

9.     Toiletries: Pack your favorite toiletries, including toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and any medication you may need. It's also a good idea to pack a small first aid kit for any emergencies.

10.  Cash and Credit Card: Bring enough cash and/or a credit card to cover any expenses you may incur during your stay. US Dollars are accepted, but you may choose to convert to local currency for the best value. If you plan to use your credit card, be mindful of any associated fees.

11.  Travel Documents: Don't forget to pack your travel documents, including your passport and any visas you may need. It's also a good idea to make copies of these documents and keep them in a separate location in case of loss or theft.

12.  Miscellaneous:

·      A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.

·      Any other thing you can’t live without for a couple days.

By packing these items, you'll be well-prepared for a fun and enjoyable long wedding weekend in Tobago!
